no, no, no! there's no patching of fvwm necessary to override most
builtin icons; all you have to do (except for aggressive apps such as
exmh) is (for example):

        Style "Netscape" Icon "3d/netscape.xpm"
        Style "xv" Icon "3d/xv-color.xpm"

then fvwm magically uses the icon you specify instead of the one
provided by the app.
