I don't think you are the only one with this problem.
(The refresh problem.)

There's a thread on comp.unix.solaris right now with someone
else with a similar issue, not involving Fvwm.

The posters keep saying, apply all the latest patches, but
last time I checked, all the patches were applied and
it still didn't work.

I think something is broken in the Solaris 9 X server.
