This sounds like a known fvwmauto problem. What happens is that fvwmauto
tells fvwm to raise the new xterm or the preferences window, but it's no
longer there because you closed it. So fvwm gives you that round "select a
window" cursor. You will probably find that if you click on a window with it,
that window will get raised.

Looks to me like you're starting TWO FvwmAuto modules, so that's why you
get two clicks. You should only start one.
