Create a .xinitrc shell script, executable permissions, something like:

#!/bin/sh
#
# Try to save any errors we get
exec 1> ~user/.errs-xsess 2>&1
#
xrdb ~user/.Xdefaults
/usr/local/bin/fvwm2 1> ~/.fvwm-errs 2>&1


This should override all the 4Dwm setup stuff and call fvwm2 instead. All
other setup is the same as on any other machine (e.g. .fvwm2 file). Note
that if you're experimenting you'll want some way of getting to that .xinitrc
file without logging in on the console, since if that file is messed up you
may find yourself unable to fire up an X session at all until it's fixed.
