You could start Fvwm first then the other programs then a "logout"
client, such as xlogout.  On my University account I do this:
    xconsole -geoemtry -0-0 &
    fvwm &
    xterm &
    ...
    exec xlogout -geometry +0+0
Xlogout is a little program that displays a window with a button in
it.  When you click the button, it terminates.
