BTW, the '?' at the end of those TO-DO list items generally indicates
"I don't know if this should or will actually be done or attempted,
but I plan to investigate when I get a chance" or some variation of
that theme.

I have both patches from Matsushita-san. When I investigate, I'll use
those as starting points.

True. The main reason I wanted to try autoconf is for those systems
that have messed up Imake config files or don't have it installed at
all (default for AIX and HPUX it seems).

I only intend to use it if it can seamlessly replace the Imake stuff
entirely. When I investigate, I'll probably have some releases with
both methods of building in there, to flush out bugs and test all
system feasability.
