I just had a look at <http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/>.
Nice site. Too bad they don't have rpms for XFree86 3.3.6.

So perhaps I did not need to build /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.a by uncommenting
IMAKE_DEFINES = -DSharedLibXpm=NO in the Imakefile and all I needed to do
is run /sbin/ldconfig -v. Do you have /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.a? If so what
is the output of rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.a?

...just wondering.
