Instead of the two suggestions already offered (which will work), you could
try use the `official' Red Hat way to choose desk top. This means going into
GNOME, and then in a terminal window type

        switchdesk

Choose the AnotherLevel option, log out and back in again. :-)

As mentioned, AnotherLevel is a `reasonable' configuration for fvwm2 from Red
Hat. You can hack it to improve it to your taste, or you could try a seriously
improved version of it by looking at
